01 / OVERVIEW

Construction sites need power that is dependable, easy to deploy and capable of supporting changing loads. But many generators are sized for occasional peaks and spend much of the day operating below their most efficient range.

ChargeHives™ provide mobile battery power for temporary construction applications. They can operate from available utility service, renewables, or alongside a generator, supplying jobsite loads while reducing generator runtime, fuel consumption, noise and maintenance.

This allows temporary power capacity to be matched more closely to the jobsite’s actual load profile and operating schedule. This brief outlines how ChargeHives™ can support construction and temporary-power applications through grid-supported, generator-hybrid and stand-alone configurations.

02 / DEPLOYMENT

How ChargeHives™ are Deployed on Construction and Job Sites

ChargeHive™ deployment is based on the site’s available power source, load profile and required operating duration. The system can be configured around three common temporary-power conditions.

Limited Utility Power: ChargeHive™ supplements temporary utility service when the available connection cannot support the site’s full or peak demand. The system recharges when demand is lower and supplies additional power when loads increase.

Best suited for: Utility-constrained sites, temporary electrical service and projects awaiting a larger permanent connection.

Generator Hybrid: A smaller generator operates at a more efficient load level while supplying power and recharging the ChargeHive™. The ChargeHive™ supports changing loads, short-duration peaks and periods when the generator can be turned off.
Best suited for: Off-grid sites, intermittent equipment loads, oversized generators and projects with extended low-load operation.

Stand-Alone Mobile Power: A pre-charged ChargeHive™ supplies a defined shift, work period or temporary load without an operating generator. The unit can then be recharged from an available electrical source or relocated for charging.
Best suited for: Short-duration work, nighttime operations, indoor or noise-sensitive areas and locations where local generator emissions are undesirable.

For this generator-hybrid application, a HiveCore™ is paired with a 56 kW prime diesel generator in place of the existing 200 kW generator. The generator supplies sustained site demand and recharges the battery whenever its available output exceeds the active load. HiveCore™ supplements the generator during higher-demand periods, including construction-hoist operation and site peaks up to 170 kW. During lower-demand periods, stored energy can supply the site while the generator is turned off. This configuration provides on-site battery charging without requiring a separate utility connection or taking the system out of service to recharge.
